About Peskio

Last updated 2026-10-23

Peskio is a free tide and fishing-conditions planner for more than 48,000 coastal places in 24 countries, from Norway to Turkey and from Portugal to the United States, in 15 languages. Each place gets one page with the tides, the sun and moon, fish activity, conditions for each way you fish (shore, boat, rock, kayak and spearfishing) and water clarity. In the Mediterranean, along France’s Atlantic and Channel coasts, and in Portugal and south-west Spain, we also map the seafloor.

Why Peskio exists

Jordi has been in the sea since he was a child, among the coves and rocks of the Costa Brava. First with a mask and snorkel, then with a tank, and for years now with a speargun. Spend that long underwater and one puzzle keeps coming back. One morning the rocks are alive with fish. The next, at the same spot, at the same hour, in the same clear water, there’s nothing.

Ask the locals and everyone has an answer. It’s the wind. It’s the moon. It’s the wrong time of year. Often they’re partly right. But no two answers quite agree, and none of them tells you what tomorrow will bring.

Decades later the question still hadn’t let go, and Jordi suspected there was more to it than folklore. So he went looking for the science behind each of those answers: how the tide moves water, and the food in it, along the coast; how the moon and the low sun of dawn and dusk line up with feeding; how wind and swell meet one particular stretch of shore and not the next; how quickly the water clears after a storm. Then he set out to turn that research into something you could check before leaving home: tides computed from ocean models and tide stations, hourly marine weather, satellite readings of water clarity, and the shape of the coast at each place.

That is Peskio: one honest answer for the day, for more than 48,000 places. It tells you when fish are most likely to be active, whether conditions suit the way you fish, and how confident we are. It won’t replace what the old fisherman on the harbour wall knows. It gives you something to check it against.

Built for anglers and spearfishers. Divers and kayakers use the water-clarity, sea-state and seafloor maps too.
